Meet our Founder

    Akebia Jones was born 1990 in Camp Lejeune Military base in North Carolina. She was raised in Miami, Florida and is a prodigy of the Miami Dade County School System. After graduating from high school, she furthered her education and graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a B.A. degree in Sociology.

    Ms. Jones is classified as a highly qualified Florida Certified K-6 educator and have been teaching for over 9 years. Currently, she is teaching in Kissimmee, FL molding great minds, building characters and encouraging the future generation to strive for higher feats and aspirations. Forging ahead, Ms. Jones is inspiring others to greater achievements.    She is also the creator of Ambitious Learners, an educational, academic, and personal enrichment services for students in the early elementary through middle school grades.  Ambitious Learners is a private mobile and face-to-face tutoring service…bridging the gap between academic challenges and self-confidence that many children face in today’s society. The goal is to equip children with the necessary tools and resources, to develop their full potential as successful and inspiring young people.

 

   Akebia has always been compassionate nurturer, especially towards students, and has directed her attention primarily to the uplifting, and the educating of young students with the focus of achieving goals benefiting their betterment.

   She started her teaching career in the Miami-Dade County Public School system before moving to Orlando being hopeful to impact the lives of future scholars of tomorrow. Her tenure in Miami-Dade was short but impactful being nominated for South Florida’s Parenting Magazine May My Kid’s Rockin’ Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016, receiving the award for Miami- Dade County My Teacher Rock. In 2021 – 2022, she was one of the nominees for Teacher of the Year.

   As an educator, Akebia has positively influenced and educated thousands of children to achieve their academic and personal goals both in and outside the classroom. With the creation of Ambitious Learners, Akebia desires to continue that journey in providing efficient and reliable services to parents and guardians for their little ones that will allow them to thrive in any classroom setting and beyond.

  Akebia is the CEO of three additional thriving businesses: Ambitious Learners Creations, Ambitious Dispatching, and Ambitious Learners Publishing.

​

   In addition, Akebia offers a scholarship to graduating seniors pursuing a higher education or entering entrepreneurship on a yearly basis.

​

  Akebia loves to travel, mentor youth, and make a positive impact in the community. She is an active member of Soul-Lifted Sisters where she has volunteered immeasurable hours serving the unhoused community. She writes stories about family, love, and kindness which allows her to speculate the world as a child, a world that is full of endless possibilities.

 

  Her inaugural book Amir’s Family Photo was inspired by many of her students facing this real-life scenario.  This book will encourage the readers to look within to strengthen the family unity and ignite their creativity to create a loving and powerful community.
